Touch a Truck Arrives Madison 10 am Sat, July 30
Trucks of all sizes, emergency vehicles, model train show, magic shows, creative balloons, free face painting at library and Y parking lots
Madison, NJ. Touch a Truck 2016 will arrive on Saturday, July 30, from 10 am to 3 pm. The Y parking lot will be filled with a spectacular lineup of trucks and emergency vehicles will line Keep Street. The Friends of the Madison Public Library will again sponsor this popular family event, in cooperation with the Madison Area YMCA and the Rotary Club.
All proceeds from the event will support programs for children, teens and adults at the Madison Public Library, 39 Keep St. Admission for young people, from toddlers up to age 12, will be $8 for advance purchases postmarked or in-person at the library by Friday, July 23 — and $10 after that date and for same-day purchases. The cost for teens and adults is $5. Children must be accompanied by an adult. For information, visit the Friends website at friendsmadisonnjlibrary.org or call (973) 514-5969. Anyone interested in sponsoring the event as a way of expressing support for the library from a family or business is encouraged to email Laurie Harting at lharting@verizon.net.
Nothing will put a smile on the face of a child more than sitting in the driver’s seat of a big rig. The truck owners of Madison and the surrounding area make it possible along with the Madison Fire and Police Departments and Ambulance Corps. The Livingston Police, the Morris County Sheriff’s Office, the Burn Foundation of Saint Barnabas and the Atlantic Ambulance Corps will join the local emergency vehicles.

Both adults and children will enjoy the model trains, Lionel ‘O gauge,’ running in an authentic 1928 baggage rail car. Simon Mandal will return with four 20-minute magic shows held between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Creative balloon twisting, free face painting, temporary tattoos and food will round out the fun activities.
Touch a Truck has grown from 500 to over 1,000 adults and children since the Friends first sponsored the event in 2008. It is held every other year so do not miss the opportunity this year to entertain your child at a very reasonable cost.
