Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Charge In Madison
Jowell A. Zavaleta was arrested after an investigation at the scene, police said.

MADISON, NJ - A 24-year-old Newton man was arrested and charged with with drug possession after a motor vehicle stop on Dec. 28, Madison Police said.
According to officials, Patrolman Kyle McDermott stopped Jowell A. Zavaleta’s vehicle on Madison Avenue for equipment violations. Upon speaking with Zavaleta, McDermott observed obvious signs of drug use in plain view, police said. Following an investigation, the driver was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana and he was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, a disorderly person’s offense, police said.
Zavaleta was later released pending his court appearance in Madison Municipal Court, police said.
