Upset Bid Turns to Heartbreak for Dodgers Hockey
Madison exits state playoffs as Hilltoppers net tiebreaker with 10 seconds left in regulation.
The Game:
The Madison Dodgers had almost all they needed to engineer a stunning first-round upset of Summit, ranked 14th in the state by the Star-Ledger, in the NJSIAA Boys Ice Hockey Public B Tournament on Tuesday night: a two-goal advantage and the momentum with less than a half-period left to play.
But Mike Nyitray's goal with just 10 seconds left in regulation, his second of the frame and third of the night, capped a four-goal third period comeback as Summit eliminated the Dodgers, 6-5, at Warinanco Rink in Roselle.
