Waverly Place Fire: 40 Years Later (PHOTOS)
The cleaners at that location was severely damaged.
MADISON, NJ - On Valentine's Day in 1979 a structure fire at 17 Waverly Place was successfully brought under control by the Madison Fire Department.
According to The History of The Madison Fire Department Facebook page, the fire originated in a cleaners and while the business itself was severely damaged, the blaze was brought under control by the Madison Fire Department without any further extension.
The residents of the apartments had to evacuate by use of the fire escape due to the large volume of smoke throughout the structure, the page notes.
