2 Accused Of Selling Cocaine On Route 17 Near Mahwah High School

Jose Dominguez, 29, and Casey Schweiger, 24, were arrested after police searched a hotel on Route 17, police said.

MAHWAH, NJ — Two people were accused of selling cocaine out of hotel on Route 17 near Mahwah High School and arrested recently, police said.

From Feb. 16 to Tuesday Detective Michael Grassi and two officers conducted surveillance on the hotel on a report that drugs were being distributed out of one of the rooms, said Chief James Batelli.

Police obtained a search warrant and looked in the room. Mahwah Police Officer Robert Rapp and K9 Remco and others officers found cocaine, Oxycodone and marijuana in the room, Batelli said.

Jose Dominguez, 29, of Hawthorne and Casey Schweiger, 24, of Brown Mills, were each charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school zone, and nine drug possession charges.

Dominguez and Schweiger are due to appear in municipal court March 9.

Batelli commended the "work and diligence" of the officers involved in the investigation.
