The heroin was packaged to try and deter a police K-9 from finding it; an air pellet gun was also found in the car, police said.

MAHWAH, NJ — Two New York residents were arrested after police found 250 bags of heroin during a traffic stop on Route 287 North Tuesday night, police said.

Officer Christopher Fasulo stopped a 2005 Infiniti with two people inside for several motor vehicle violations at 8:45 p.m., said Chief James Batelli.

Officer Robert Rapp and his K-9 Remco responded to the scene. Police received consent to search the vehicle and found a vacuum-sealed container with five bricks of heroin, 250 bags, attached to the frame, Batelli said. The heroin was packaged in a way to deter a trained narcotics K-9 from finding it, the chief said.
