Amazing Savings HQ Moving To Mahwah

The corporate offices and distribution center for the Amazing Savings chain of stores is moving to a 204,000 sq. foot warehouse inside the Sharp building off Route 17 in Mahwah. The Planning Board Monday night approved a tenant application for the store's parent company, Simply Amazing, LLC.

According to the retail chain’s founder Sam Friedland, Amazing Savings has outgrown its current distribution center, which is split between two facilities in Chester and Goshen, N.Y.

“We would like to consolidate [our operation] into the Mahwah location and move our corporate offices there as well,” he told the board Monday night. Amazing Savings will bring about 40 employees with it to the Mahwah warehouse.

According to its Yahoo Finance profile, Amazing Savings is classified as a “closeout retail” store. “The company offers overstocked and discontinued goods (such as apparel, housewares, and appliances) purchased in bulk from manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers,” the profile says. According to Yahoo, the company, which began in 1989, owned about 85 stores in nine states when it purchased Odd Job stores in 2003. It shut 69 stores in 2005 when it filed for bankruptcy, the profile says. It has since restructured.

Now, there are 13 Amazing Savings stores in N.Y. and N.J. The closest to Mahwah are in Monsey, N.Y., and Teaneck. The Mahwah headquarters will not include a storefront.
