• Loggers Found His Skull 32 Years Ago. Thanks To NJ Students, He Has A Name (patch.com) — Mahwah's Ramapo College Investigative Genetic Genealogy Center helped identify a skull found in Nevada in 1994 as Alan Don Bishop, missing since 1984. Using advanced DNA profiling and student-assisted research, the Bergen County-based program matched his remains to a living sibling, bringing long-awaited answers to his family while Carson City authorities continue probing how his remains reached the logging site.
• Beach Reads, Last Call (healthandlifemags.com) — Mahwah Library staff suggest you close out summer with Henry Winkler's memoir "Being Henry," historical novel "The Frozen River," or the heartwarming "Remarkably Bright Creatures." Bergen County librarians from Ridgewood, Upper Saddle River, Hackensack, and beyond also share their favorite thrillers, mysteries, and local-author picks to keep your beach bag stocked.
• New Jersey Lottery Sees Surge: Over $10,000 Prizes Won by 22 Players in One Week (wrat.com) — Several big New Jersey Lottery and Powerball prizes were sold right in Mahwah, including $50,000 Powerball tickets at Bolla 198 Mahwah C-Store and Fardale Deli & Mini Mart, plus a $500,000 Ruby 7's ticket at a local 7-Eleven. In total, 22 players statewide won at least $10,000 during the August 10–16 streak.
