• Caregiver For Disabled Mahwah Child Charged With Theft, Police Say (patch.com) — Mahwah police say a caregiver for a disabled child has been charged after a resident allegedly found him searching bedroom drawers, following earlier reports of missing cash. Detectives from Mahwah investigated, leading to theft and conspiracy charges against a Bronx man employed by a special-needs care agency. Authorities are asking any other potential Mahwah victims to contact Detective Timothy Letavish.
   

• Secaucus Police Blotter: September 28, 2026 to October 4, 2026 (secaucusnj.net) — Secaucus police detail a week of arrests, including warrants, shoplifting, DWI, and a weapons case, with incidents running through October 4. For Mahwah residents, the most relevant item is the October 4 arrest of a 44-year-old Mahwah man on an outstanding no-bail warrant, after which Mahwah officers took him back into their custody.
   

• Human remains identified as missing Coast Guard officer 45 years later (local12.com) — Work based in Mahwah has helped finally identify a Coast Guard officer whose body was found off Atlantic City in 1981, bringing long-awaited answers to his family. Ramapo College's Investigative Genetic Genealogy Center used advanced DNA techniques, and state police say the investigation into his disappearance is still active.
