Mahwah Man Charged In Stabbing Death Of Wife: Prosecutor

MAHWAH, NJ — A 73-year-old Mahwah man, Dieter Zimmerman, is in custody after authorities said he stabbed his wife to death with a kitchen knife early Tuesday morning. He is charged with first-degree murder.

According to the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, Mahwah Police responded to a domestic violence call at a home at 27 Indian Field Ct. around 7:45 a.m. Police found Zimmerman with scratches and a bleeding cut on his finger, authorities said.

Officers located Jacqueline Zimmerman, 69, in an upstairs bathroom, where she was found dead.

In addition to murder, Zimmerman is facing two additional weapons charges. He is in custody at Bergen County Jail, awaiting a first appearance in court.
