The Center for Hope and Safety will recognize the month with three events, including their annual candlelight vigil on Tuesday.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — The Center for Hope and Safety will host their annual candlelight vigil in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Van Suan Park.

The vigil is hosted yearly to help raise awareness of domestic violence, and also remember the lives lost due to that violence.

This vigil is scheduled for Tuesday at 6:15 p.m., and will be held in Lot 4 at Van Suan County Park, 216 Forest Ave., Paramus.

A candlelight vigil aimed at raising awareness for domestic violence is particularly timely in the era of COVID-19, officials with the Center for Hope and Safety said.

Calls to their hotline have increased by 46 percent during the pandemic, meaning representatives from the agency have answered more than 6,150 calls.

And the agency is doing more than hosting a candlelight vigil.

On Oct. 30, the organization has scheduled a 3K walk, with proceeds going toward the Center's programs. That walk begins at 10 a.m.

A gala event will be hosted on Nov. 3, this year held virtually.
