NJ Teen Sexually Assaulted By Man He Met On Snapchat, Authorities Say
A man was charged for sexually assaulting a boy in Mahwah and failing to register as a sex offender, officials said.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A 45-year-old Hawthorne man was arrested this week for sexually assaulting a teen boy he met on Snapchat, Bergen County prosecutors said.
Jason M. Herskovitz was charged with sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and failing to re-register in the sex offender registry, said prosecutors on Friday.
Prosecutors said that the Mahwah police contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit on Wednesday regarding the alleged sexual assault of a minor in Mahwah.

Investigators determined that Herskovitz assaulted the child on more than one occasion in that town.
According to the police complaint, Hersokvitz had the 14-year-old boy perform oral sex on him twice between April and May. The boy told officials he met Herskovitz on Snapchat, the complaint says.

Herskovitz was taken to the Bergen County Jail to await a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, prosecutors said.
