Bergen Man Charged After Sexual Contact With A Child: Prosecutor

A man from Garfield is facing child endangerment and aggravated criminal sexual contact charges after a prosecutor's office investigation.

GARFIELD, NJ — A Bergen County man is in jail after a prosecutor's office investigation led to charges surrounding alleged illegal sexual contact with a minor under 16-years-old.

Mikulas Banacky was arrested on Aug. 17, and faces a third-degree aggravated criminal sexual contact charge, as well as a second-degree endangering the welfare of a child charge.

The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit.

Division of Child Protection and Permanency officials contacted the office on July 27, regarding an accusation that Banacky "engaged in inappropriate sexual conduct with a child under the age of sixteen while in Garfield," the prosecutor said.

Following his arrest, Banacky was transported to the Bergen County Jail, where he awaits a first appearance in court.
