Bergen Resident Named President Of NJ American College Of Cardiology

The Montvale physician will serve a three-year term promoting education and research.

A Montvale physician has been tabbed as the next chief of the one of the nation’s largest nonprofit medical societies.

Dr. Joel Landzberg was named the new president and governor of the New Jersey Chapter of the American College of Cardiology (NJACC) on Thursday.

Landzberg was elected for a three-year term to oversee the College’s 1,200 board-certified cardiologists.

His goal in his new position will be to improve professional education and research.

“Despite remarkable medical advances leading to exceptional treatment results, heart disease remains the leading cause of death of New Jersey residents,” Landzberg said in a press release. “Cardiologists are on the front lines in this ongoing battle, and the ACC is a leader in fostering continued progress related to disease prevention and cardiovascular care through education, promotion of research, development of standards and guidelines, and the evolution of healthcare policy.”

Landzberg received his M.D. from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons and previously served as the Medical Director of Cardiac Prevention and Rehabilitation at Hackensack UMC since 1996.

He has also received national accolades for his work, including several listings on New York Magazine’s Top Doctors in New York, and elsewhere.
