Body Of Missing Bergen Man Found In Car In NYC: Report

The medical examiner will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

New York City police officers found the body of a 35-year-old Bergen County man in the back seat of a car Tuesday, according to a report by The Record.

The man had been last seen Thursday afternoon in Closter, his hometown, and police are treating the case as a suspicious death, Closter Police Chief Dennis Kaine said in the report.

The man, whose name has been released because his family had still not been notified as of Wednesday afternoon, was reported missing Sunday night at 11:15 p.m. by his roommate, Closter police said in the report.

New York City police found the man in the back seat of a Lexus with New Jersey plates, which was parked across the street on East 16th Street in Brooklyn at 9:35 a.m., the report stated. He was dead when officers arrived and had a small wound and laceration near his left eyebrow, a New York City Police Department spokeswoman said. No arrests have been made.

The body was covered with a tarp and the head was covered with “something else;” the medical examiner will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
