Car Parades Celebrate Mahwah Graduates

MAHWAH, NJ — The celebration of the Mahwah High School class of 2020 continues tonight, as three small car parades will move through the township at 6 p.m.

The car parades will be escorted by firetrucks, so a message to the township indicates that residents may hear "numerous sirens."

Residents are asked to stand outside and wave to the seniors as they pass through different neighborhoods.

In addition to the virtual graduation ceremony, at a June 11 meeting of the Township Council, members voted in favor of an honorary renaming of Ridge Road to MHS Class of 2020 Way for the remainder of the calendar year.

As of June 12, a new sign has been added to the existing Ridge Road sign.

On the Facebook post announcing the decision, one parent expressed gratitude for the move.

"I'm so happy!! My son is graduating and loves the acknowledgment of this special 22 class!!"
