Commodore Perry Field Closed Due To Safety Concerns
Breaking: Light poles have fallen at the facility recently, Dennis Burns, township recreation director said.

MAHWAH, NJ — The Commodore Perry field and court complex is closed until further notice for safety concerns, authorities announced Friday afternoon.
A few light poles have fallen in the past few days and authorities are testing the remaining poles to ensure they will not fall either, said Dennis Burns, the township recreation director.
The township is working with an outside company to perform the testing.

The baseball and softball fields, tennis courts, roller hockey court, and basketball courts are closed.
"We understand the impacts of our youth and adult sports programs in town, but we need to make sure the area is safe before reopening the complex," Burns said in an alert Friday afternoon.

Residents will be notified when they may use the facility, Burns said.
