Concert, Exhibit To Celebrate 100 Years Of Mahwah's Les Paul

Special concert to be held in Times Square. Mahwah Museum honoring the man and former resident, who created the gold standard of guitars.

The life of Les Paul, the legendary guitar designer and Mahwah resident, will be honored at the Les Paul 100th Anniversary Celebration this week.

The event is a combination exhibit and concert in Times Square in New York City Tuesday and at the Mahwah Museum this week.

The concert marks the 100th birthday of the iconic guitar designer and musician. An all-star lineup, including Steve Miller, Joe Bonamassa, Joe Satriani, and others will perform at the New York City Hard Rock Cafe at 8 p.m.

An interactive 53-foot exhibit, Les Paul’s Big Sound Experience, will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibit will give visitors a chance to see Paul’s contributions not only as a guitar designer but as a self-taught inventor and innovator who pioneered multi-track recording, reverb, and other innovations.

The exhibit will also be at the Mahwah Museum Friday from 2 to 9 p.m., Saturday from 1 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 7 p.m.

Longtime friends of Paul’s, Bucky Pizzarelli, Ed Laub, Lou Pallo, and others will perform at the museum at 1 p.m. Sunday.
