Cops: Coyote Injured, Bleeding After Authorities Attempted To Capture It

Norwood sighting is the latest in a series of sightings in Norwood and Northeast Bergen County this week.

The Norwood Police Department found and “injured” a coyote while trying to capture it on Cathy Court Thursday.

Police posted about the incident on the department’s Nixle page early Thursday afternoon.

Authorities said the “aggressive” coyote was injured, bleeding, and ran toward Blanch Avenue.

It is the latest in a series of coyote sightings in Norwood this week.

Norwood police have confirmed that the coyote that attacked and bit a man walking his dog over the weekend has tested positive for rabies. That animal was later found and euthanized.

A Norwood woman also had a run in with one on Sunday. It ran off when her husband made loud noises.

Authorities reported Wednesday afternoon that a coyote was on the Norwood Public School property.

Paramus, Ridgewood, and Harrington Park residents reported seeing coyotes Tuesday morning, NorthJersey.com reported, and there was a reported sighting in Midland Park Wednesday.

Englewood residents reported hearing the coyotes howling at night, the website reported. Multiple coyote sightings kept Englewood Cliffs students inside their school.

Another man was attacked at his Saddle River home April 6 while working in his yard. That same coyote, according to reports, also attacked a neighbor’s dog.
