Councilwoman Apologizes For Giving The Finger To Mayor
She said the infamous incident, caught on camera, was inspired by the Mayor's bullying.
The Mahwah Councilwoman that gave the Mayor the finger and cursed at him has apologized for her behavior, according to a NorthJersey.com report.
Councilwoman Lisa DiGiulio, whose actions drew applause, called her behavior “unconscionable” but stopped short of saying sorry directly to the Mayor, the report states.
DiGiulio’s outburst was caught on video and distributed around the internet.

DiGiulio has attributed her outburst to Mayor Bill Laforet’s decision to fire Department of Public Works Director Ed Sinclair and then bring out a posterboard-sized picture of her and SInclair with other colleagues, the report states, in what she must have perceived as either mockery or derision.

Laforet is under fire himself for a history of similar incidences.
A motion to recall him was recently deemed valid.
The next step for the motion is for at least 25 percent of the township’s voters in the last election, which would be 4,163 individuals, to sign and agree that a recall question should be placed on the ballot in November, reports state.
