Creativity With Trim and Color

Looking to Mahwah homes for design inspiration

Now, with the influx of “transitional” style décor, it is a perfect time to add some creativity to your wall surfaces. “Transitional décor” is a fun way to update your existing domain with a clean, yet warm style that focuses on sleek, cozy styles. Fabrics consist of linens, burlaps, and natural weaves on furniture with old world frames and trimmed with decorative cords and nailheads. Limed and bleached woods are a nice change from the heavy woods of traditional furniture.  Light and airy with splashes of color can be a refreshing look to your décor.

Metallics are in with wall treatment and fabrics; the new mixed media is the way to go. The photos with this article show some examples of how we used a starburst mirror as center medallion over a bed or decorative plates in a Mahwah home, instead of a picture on a wall.

I also like to use woodwork over a boring bathroom mirror and boxes as panels on the bathroom area to create a different feeling of style. In the pictured bathroom, yellow compliments white and black walls with a hint of metallic wallpaper inserted into the picture framing.
