'Dying In Vein — The Opiate Generation' To Be Screened In Mahwah
The film presents real-life stories that examine the problem of addiction and the 'broken' treatment system.

MAHWAH, NJ — The award-winning film "Dying In Vein — The Opiate Generation," will be screened Jan. 31 at Ramapo College.
The Mahwah Police Department and the Mahwah Municipal Alliance are sponsoring the screening. The film will be shown in the Sharp Theater in the Berrie Center at 6:30 p.m.
Admission is free, but attendees need to pre-register online.

The film chronicles stories from four people that closely examine the problem of addiction, the impact drugs and addiction have on society and the "broken treatment system," Mahwah Police Chief James Batelli said.
The film is a "must see for all families and viewers will leave the theater with a better understanding of the opioid epidemic that is occurring across our nation," Batelli said.

Director Jenny Mackenzie will discuss the film during a panel discussion and question and answer session after the screening.
The Mahwah Municipal Alliance will provide material and information about services and help that is available to those suffering from substance abuse.
Alliance President Carolyn Blake and Batelli said that solving the opioid addiction crisis will not be done through arrests alone and "requires community stakeholders to work together on solutions."
