CASA is a private, noprofit organization serving children in foster care throughout Bergen County. CASA volunteers speak and advocate on behalf of the county's abused and nelected children in foster care, ensuring that they receive proper services while in foster care and that they are placed in safe, permanent homes as quickly as posible. Each CASA advocate has a one on one relationship with the child he/she serves, and each advocate works on behalf of only one child or one family of children at a time.  Currently Bergen County CASA assists about one third of the more than 350 children in foster care, but its goals is to serve more. Additional funds would allow more volunteers to help more children.

Sheriff Michael Saudino, who will be honored during the evening, is a strong advocate for children. He is formerly the Chief of Police of Emerson, and a life-long Bergen resident who has a belief in the responsibility to serve. He has always been involved with activities that strengthen and nurture children.
