Creating a Sustainable World

The Ramapo College Masters of Arts in Sustainability Studies
is pleased to invite you to four events in March and April in
the series Creating a Sustainable World: Voices of Expert
Practitioners. All events take place in Friends Hall SC219,
Ramapo College of New Jersey.

1. Bateson on Bateson "An Ecology of Mind: A Daughter's
Portrait of Gregory Bateson," a film screening and discussion
with director Nora Bateson. March 29, 2012 6 p.m. Friends
Hall. Don't miss this opportunity to revisit or discover
Gregory Bateson's seminal contributions to our understanding
of how we see the world, one of the clearest analyses of the
roots of our ecological crises. Batesons' work also made
seminal contributions to the Social Sciences and many other
fields.

2. "Materials Cycling, Green Jobs and the Promise of Local
Self Reliance." Neil Seldman, President Institute for Local
Self Reliance. April 5, 2012 6 P.M. Come learn how to build
the sustainable, local and no-waste economy from a seminal
actor.

3. "Advancing Consensus on Sustainability in Higher Education:
from Curriculum to Climate." Anthony Cortese, President,
Second Nature. April 12, 2012 6 P.M. The mastermind behind
advancing sustainability and climate action in higher
education focusing on making our institutions work for
sustainable change.

4. Friday the 13th! "Igniting New Jersey Climate Action." Join
us for a second day with Anthony Cortese, 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. We
will update on New Jersey's progress in meeting its aggressive
greenhouse gas reduction goals, discuss circumventing barriers
to campus greenhouse reduction for NJ campuses and invite
students from Power Shift and other organizations to lead an
effort to ignite New Jersey Climate Action.
