Hearts & Crafts Butterfly Release

Hearts & Crafts Grief Counseling of Ramsey invites the community to a Butterfly Release on Thursday June 23rd from 5-8pm to honor the memory of a loved one who has died.  The names of those being honored will be read, as live butterflies are released throughout Barnstable Court in Saddle River. Light refreshments will be served.  Butterflies can be purchased for $10 by going to www.heartsandcraftscounseling.org and clicking on “Donate”, or mailing a check to 60 E. Main Street, Ramsey, NJ 07446 along with the name of the loved one being honored. All proceeds go towards local bereaved children and their families. Hearts & Crafts Grief Counseling was founded in 1994 by Laura Hudson, Board Certified Art Therapist, and Co-Directed by  Terry DeBrule, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, to serve families living with serious illness and loss and and is dedicated to providing a safe, caring environment as families work through their healing process.  Situated in a cozy carriage house to create a home away from home, the counseling center has an art room, family room, and loft to replace the conventional psychotherapy office model.  Clients, who can range in age from 4 to 99, receive both individual counseling and support groups.  Coming from 43 towns in NJ and 36 towns in NY, most clients are referred by schools, medical practices,  and other Hearts & Crafts families who have benefited from their services.

Over the past 17 years Hearts & Crafts Grief Counseling has grown from serving initially 20 families to approximately 250 children and adults each year.  Services provided include Art Therapy, Individual and Family Counseling; Children’s Support Groups; Teen Support Groups; Parent/Adult Support Groups; and Community Education.  Scholarships are available for qualifying clients.  Funding is secured through individual charitable donations.
