Spring Dance Spectacular: Celebrating Our Cultural Diversity

The Hindu Samaj Temple and Community Center is sponsoring a Spring Dance Spectacular, celebrating the area’s cultural diversity and featuring award-winning dance troupes from all over the region. The dance celebration is a benefit performance for the Mahwah Marine Moms-North Jersey Military Moms. Admission is free.  Free-will donations at the door will be appreciated.

The dance celebration promises to be a colorful extravaganza, showcasing a variety of costumes and dance styles—Indian Classical, Spanish Flamenco, Italian Tarantella, American Tap, American Swing, and Irish Dance. The dances will be performed by the Shubanjali School of Performing Arts in Scotch Plains, Infinite Motion Performing Arts Academy in Mahwah, Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Ridgewood, and McLoughlin School of Irish Dance in Allendale.

The Spring Dance Spectacular is being presented by the recently formed community outreach group called SAHARA, composed of members of the Hindu Samaj and Bergen County residents, for the sole purpose of serving others by lending a helping hand. “In Hindi, SAHARA means support,” said Shailja Rastogi, chair of the committee, “and if we support each other, we can create a better society. I am honored to be working with volunteers who believe in the importance of serving the broader community by extending their hands to the needy, no matter what their race, color, or creed.”
