Summer Music Festival: "At the Metropolitan Opera House in 1912" Scenes from Famous Operas performed at the Met in 1912 with the Allegro Singers and Inna Leytush, piano
Continuing the yearlong celebration of the Mahwah Library Centennial. Step back in time: the year is 1912… the place is New York City’s glittering Metropolitan Opera House... Arturo Toscanini is conducting ... the great Enrico Caruso is singing (he gave 50 performances in 1912). Maybe it is a performance of one of Puccini new operas: La Boheme, Tosca, Madama Butterfly, or La Fanciulla del West (the world premiere was at the Met on 12/10/1910). Or an opera by Verdi: Aida, Rigoletto, or Otello This program is free. No tickets are necessary. Seats are on a “first come” basis.
