Jose Obando and his trio trace the development of salsa beginning with the manufacture and use of percussion by the Africans, which was permitted by the Spaniards in their Caribbean colonies. They cover the music from Puerto Rico, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic as well as Salsa. The Trio will demonstrate salsa and teach the lively and simple merengue from the Dominican Republic.
