April is Jazz Appreciation Month so join with celebration with a concert featuring The August Quartet. Bassist, Don Falzone, will be performing with his newest band, The August Quartet. They are a group of fine musicians with strong roots in jazz and blues, as well as other musical styles. The members include Jed Levy on tenor saxophone and flute; John Hart on guitar; and Eric Halvorson on drums and percussion. Don Falzone has been playing professionally for 30 years in a diverse array of musical settings. After many years as a sideman, Mr. Falzone has released his debut CD as a leader and composer entitled “Stand Clear of the Closing Doors”. Bill Milkowski of Jazz Times called it a “Rewarding Debut”. The concert will feature original compositions by bassist/composer Don Falzone. This music emphasizes introspective mood and exotic melody with hints of jazz, blues, and world music influences. The other half of the program will be a more traditional jazz quartet performing songs from the “Great American Songbook”. Songs by the great composers such as Jerome Kern, Rogers and Hart, and Cole Porter.
