Former NFL Star, Bergen Resident, Lawrence Taylor Charged With DUI, Reports Say

The former New York Giant was driving a Bentley when he allegedly struck the side of a mobile home and hit a police car, officials said.

Former New York Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor was arrested Friday on a drunk driving charge after an incident where he allegedly crashed into a mobile home and a police car, reports said.

Taylor, 57, was arrested in Palm Beach, Florida after he allegedly crashed the 2010 Bentley he was driving on the Florida Turnpike into a mobile home and hit a police car too, CNN.com reported, citing a police report by the Florida Highway Patrol.

Taylor, a former Upper Saddle River resident, was arrested after he reportedly failed three field sobriety tests at the crash site, the report stated.

According to the arrest report, Taylor's breath tests revealed that he his blood-alcohol level was .082 and .084 five hours after the crash, the Sun-Sentinel reported.

Taylor was released from jail at about 4:30 a.m. Saturday morning, the Sun-Sentinel reported.

Taylor was one of the most feared defensive players in National Football League history during his 13-year career with the Giants.

The two-time Super Bowl champion, league MVP in 1986, and three-time Defensive Player of the Year was inducted in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1999.

Taylor has had trouble off the field since retiring.

He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident in 2009. He pleaded guilty in 2011 to sexual misconduct and patronizing a prostitute at a New York hotel after he admitted to having sex with an underage prostitute he thought was 19, the Sun-Sentinel reported.
