Good Bye Ole Friend......for now!

and now the end is near

GOOD BYE OLE FRIEND…..FOR NOW

This weekend my relationship with you comes to an end….. it began a long, long time ago in the back of my Aunt Mae’s burgundy and white Rambler station wagon and I sat in the back facing the cars behind us. Every Sunday we came your way passing by cows grazing on what is now the grounds of Ramapo University to get to Grove Street where the church was that my uncles had helped build

Ahhhh yes there were many times we visited up on the Ridge, my grandpop and grandma’s what fun we had there as kids. My uncle Bob’s 57 Chevy Bel Air and my aunt Carols unbelievable 45 collection constantly rang on the Victrola, memories memories! Nothing but nothing beat Grandma Jennings cooking----the best meatloaf and red gravy and homemade turkey soup simply incomparable. The Ridge now houses the Mahwah Library and the Center for Food Action---we used to play hide and seek in the big corn fields

There was quite a stretch where we hardly knew each other I think I might have casually waved good bye or conjured up a memory as I passed through on my way to the “burn or the “valley”. As fate would have it as I began to garner a little success in the corporate world I was able to literally buy my way back in as I purchased a piece of you in the ‘Square

Anyway “ and now the end is near” and although the future seems soooo uncertain I appreciate all that you have offered to me, sometimes life hands you circumstances that warrant a change on your behalf albeit maybe temporarily…..Good Bye My Ole Friend Mahwah, I hope to see you again someday
