Is it Football season yet?

Last night was a night of total devastation for the New York Yankees---- and the won the game in 14 innings.  The Bombers learned before the game that their twentysomething phenom from Japan, Tanaka has pain in his elbow and is on the 15 day disabled list.  He is the 4th of 5 pitchers relied upon to carry the Yankees into postseason play that will not have a complete regular season.  I cannot remember the last time injuries were this rampant to a single team in a single position.

When combined with the outright feeble offense in the Bronx this has a good chance of being the longest second half of the season here in recent memory.  Flat out futile offense from Mc Cann, Soriano and Beltran have caused Yankees fans to long for the days of Cano.

While this is in no way his fault it is time for Joe Girardi to step up big time if the Yankees are going to salvage the season at all.  Simply put he can no longer sit on his hands and wait for the three run homer it aint happening.  When speedsters like Garder, Ellsbury, and even Ichiro are on base Girardi must have them running at all costs.  With the big power outage not running baserunners who can run is not only unproductive it is unwise.  i have had enough of Jeter  hitting into double plays.  In addition to that the Yankees need a miracle to stay in the race but if Girardi is gonna wait for the 3 run homer we are all better off waiting for opening day---that is the NY Giants opening day
