While his signature poem was “Trees,” written in his Mahwah house on February 2, 1913, poet patriot Joyce Kilmer wrote a total of 87 poems in his short lifetime, including two entitled “Easter” and “Easter Week.” The first is a four-line verse of his visual impression of the day:
“The air is like a butterfly

with frail blue wings.

and sings.”
The second poem centers on the Easter Irish uprising against the British in 1916.
