Mahwah Councilwoman Lisa DiGiulio Will Not Seek Reelection

DiGiulio directed an outburst at Mayor William Laforet during a 2015 council meeting.

MAHWAH, N.J. — Longtime Councilwoman LIsa DiGiulio will not seek reelection this November after more than a quarter century on the dais.

DiGiulio announced her intention not to run for an eighth term at the council meeting Thursday.

DiGiulio unleashed a outburst at Mayor William Laforet, calling him a "low life" and a "piece of [expletive]" and flipping him two middle fingers at a council meeting.

The outburst stemmed from Laforet's decision to fire then Department of Public Works director Ed Sinclair, who unsuccessfully ran against Laforet for the mayorship in 2012. The council reinstated Sinclair before DiGiulio unleashed her outburst. Sinclair died of a heart attack last August.

DiGiulio founded the township Beautification Advisory Committee and served as council president and vice president, NorthJersey.com reported.
