Mahwah High School Student Is A Presidential Scholar Candidate

MAHWAH, N.J. — A Mahwah High School student is in the running for one of the most prestigious honors in the country.

Elise Kronbichler is a candidate to represent New Jersey as part of the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program, Principal John Pascale announced Tuesday.

Kronbichler was chosen on her "superior academic and artistic achievements, leadership qualities, strong character and involvement in community and school activities," Pascale said.

"We wish Elise luck as she participates in the application process," he said.

More than 4,000 candidates are selected to apply for the program out of the 3.5 million seniors expected to graduate from high school annually.
