Mahwah Hires New District, School Administrators
Several new positions have been filled by educators with a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
MAHWAH, NJ — Several new district and school administrators have begun work for the public school district.
Dr. Michael DeTuro is the new district director of curriculum. He was principal of Joyce Kilmer School. He believes the the primary responsibility of an educational leader is to continually enhance and improve the quality of instruction.
During his work in Mahwah, DeTuro has worked with staff members and colleagues to implement the Reading and Writing Workshop Model, Professional Learning Communities as well as a number of other best practices.

DeTuro has served as the district security liaison, has sat on the district’s Future Ready School Committee, has been a member of the district’s Mindfulness Committee, as well as a number of other curricular committees, which has afforded him leadership experiences at the district level
Jennifer Glebocki is the district's new supervisor of instruction for the elementary grades.

Glebocki was a fourth grade teacher in Dumont and as an elementary teacher, she worked in Cresskill Public Schools' gifted and talented and enrichment programming. She was supervisor of special projects for in Cresskill where she observed and evaluated staff, oversaw the district's G-Suite initiative, and coordinated staff-specific programs.
Joshua Chuy is the new principal of Joyce Kilmer School. Chuy was a lead teacher and taught third, fourth, and fifth grade English and social studies in Paterson.
He previously was assistant principal of Rosa Parks Community School in Orange.
Chuy earned his bachelor's degree in communication studies and his master's degree in administration and supervision from Montclair State University.
Christine Giancola is the interim assistant principal of Joyce Kilmer school.
Giancola has served as a vice principal and principal for New Milford Schools, a principal for Cliffside Park Schools, and was an interim principal for the Bogota Board of Education.
She is returning to Mahwah after serving in the capacity as an interim assistant principal at Joyce Kilmer School during the 2013-2014 school year.
Brian Cory is the principal of Ramapo Ridge Middle School.
Cory was vice principal of Tenafly High School for 14 years. He wants to bring people together and “is extremely balanced when working through challenges," district officials said of him.
Miriam Lezanski is the acting assistant principal of Ramapo Ridge Middle School. She has served as district supervisor of world languages for the middle and high schools for 11 years.
Over the course of her work in district, Lezanski has also supervised the performing arts, visual arts, and English as second language programs. In this capacity, she has worked with a variety of staff members, focusing efforts on programmatic shifts. Through this role, she has also worked closely with parents and students to focus on student growth.
Katherine Boshart is the district's acting supervisor of world language, performing and visual arts, and English as a second language.
Boshart was an assistant principal in Manhattan.
She has a bachelor's degree in psychology from Emory University and a master's degree in childhood education and special education, literacy, and administration and supervision.
