Mahwah House Fire Deemed Suspicious, Police Chief Says

The house's heavy flames and the fact that it was under construction and not connected to gas or electricity have caused suspicion.

Mahwah fire Chief Ed Garza said Wednesday’s house fire may have been arson.

The fire on Lakeview Drive has been deemed suspicious for reasons including the heavy flames and that the house was under construction and was not connected to gas or electricity, NorthJersey.com reported.

Firefighters arrived at ”the fully involved 2.5 story wood frame structure” at 9 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Mahwah Fire Department. Though firefighters used tankers at first, “a supply line was placed in service from a nearby lake” after a draft was established. All units were cleared around 1 a.m.
