Mahwah Police Arrest Brooklyn Man With Hollow-Point Ammunition, Stolen Credit Cards

Niquaan Gaymon, 26, was caught after local police put out an alert, authorities said.

MAHWAH, N.J. — A Brooklyn man was arrested for possession of hollow-point bullets and for allegedly using stolen credit cards to purchase cigarettes at a Route 17 gas station this week, Mahwah police said Thursday.

Detective Guido Bussinelli stopped the car Niquaan Gaymon, 26, was in after he saw it on the highway, said Chief James Batelli. Upper Saddle River Police had notified Mahwah police about a person matching Gaymon's description using stolen credit cards and the vehicle he was in, Batelli said.

Detectives searched Gaymon's car and found 12 credit cards with stolen numbers, three boxes of 9mm hollow-point ammunition, cartons of cigarettes, and New York Police Department uniforms, the chief said.

Upper Saddle River Police learned that Gaymon and someone else believed to be involved in credit card fraud were recorded on surveillance cameras using a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe, which was registered in Georgia, Batelli said. A Brooklyn man owns the vehicle Gaymon was in when police stopped him.

The police uniforms were not stolen, Batelli said.

Gaymon was charged with possession of hollow-point bullets, knowingly possessing 12 forged credit cards and altering a magnetic strip, theft of stolen property property more than $500, but less than $75,0000, and receiving stolen property.

Gaymon was remanded to the Bergen County Jail on $25,000 bail, police said.
