Mahwah Thunderbirds Want To Collect 5,000 Sneakers

The Mahwah School Foundation's annual Thunderbird Run has launched a drive for Soles4Souls, an international nonprofit.

MAHWAH, NJ — Township students are encouraged to donate sneakers as part of the annual Thunderbird Run.

The Mahwah Schools Foundation's Thunderbird Run has launched a drive to collect 5,000 sneakers to Soles4Souls.

Soles4Souls is a nonprofit that creates sustainable jobs and distributes shoes and clothes around the world. Since its founding in 2006, the organization has distributed more than 30 million pairs of shoes in 127 countries.

“The simple truth is that almost everyone has sneakers that they don’t wear, or children with sneakers they’ve out grown,” said Michele Kaplan, one of the organizers of the MSF Thunderbird Run. “When you donate those to our drive, know that you are taking a step to making the world a better place for all of us.”

Shoes can donate any kind of shoes until April 20 at any township school. The drive will conclude at the Thunderbird Run April 22.
