Mahwah's Winter Park Playground Committee Raises $50k for New Playground

The non-profit volunteer committee fundraised for two years to assist with the playground project.

Mahwah’s Winter Park Playground Committee presented Mayor Bill Laforet a check for $50,000 to go toward the new playground set to be installed in the coming weeks.

The committee, a volunteer, non-profit, 501(c)3 group of township residents, has been fundraising for two years to assist with the playground project on the Winter Park property.

“Today is a great day,” said Committee President Kim Bolan. “This group has worked very hard to raise these funds and while it was a lot of work, we had a great time doing it for the township we love. I’m proud to have worked with this dedicated group and happy to see such gracious giving is still alive and well in our community,” said Bolan.

The previous playground has been removed and the new playground is expected to be completed by mid-fall.

Mayor Bill Laforet added, “This committee of young moms and dads, and their children, who are the direct beneficiaries of this project, were asked to design a park and raise funds to improve the final project. This is a significant improvement to Winter Park. They have raised over $50,000, which is a considerable accomplishment that will live on for decades. I congratulate them and thank them for their dedication. A job well done.”
