Man Gets 3 Years For Trafficking Cocaine To Bergen County

Ramis Esteves, 33, was arrested after he accepted delivery of 2 kilos of cocaine from Puerto Rico, authorities said.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A New York man was sentenced to 36 months in prison for his role in a conspiracy to traffic two kilograms of cocaine from Puerto Rico to Bergen County, Acting U.S. Attorney William Fitzpatrick announced.

Ramis Esteves, 33, was arrested in March 2015 in Bergen County after he accepted delivery of the cocaine, which had been sent by mail from Puerto Rico, Fitzpatrick said. He admitted that he conspired with co-defendant Sasha Melendez, 38, of Bergenfield, to distribute the cocaine.

In addition to the three-year prison sentence, U.S. District Judge Claire C. Cecchi sentenced Esteves to three years of supervised release.
