School Teacher Lured, Sexually Assaulted Bergen Girl, 15: Prosecutor

Neal E. Ziskind, 35, a married school teacher, was charged with sexual assault and luring, authorities said.

NEW MILFORD, N.J. — A married school teacher was arrested and charged Tuesday after he allegedly lured and subsequently sexually assaulted a 15-year-old New Milford girl, said Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal.

The arrest of Neal E. Ziskind, 35, came after New Milford Police received a report June 3 that a 15-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted in the borough, Grewal said.

Police and members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit conducted a joint investigation, the acting prosecutor said.

Ziskind, of Keasbey, was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child for the manufacturing of images of child exploitation, sexual assault, luring, endangering the welfare of a child, and promoting obscene material, authorities said.

Bergen County Superior Court Judge Susan J. Steele set Ziskind's bail at $250,000 with no 10 percent option. Ziskind was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of bail, Grewal said.

Ziskind is to have no contact with the girl and must surrender his passport if released on bail.
