No Quarantine Necessary For Thanksgiving Travel At Mahwah Schools

MAHWAH, NJ — No quarantine is necessary for students traveling domestically over the Thanksgiving break, but unvaccinated students will have to quarantine if they go abroad.

Mahwah Public Schools updated their COVID-19 travel restrictions earlier this month, removing any quarantine or testing period for vaccinated students travelling domestically or abroad.

Students who have recovered from COVID-19 within the last three months also have no international travel restrictions.

Unvaccinated students don't have any travel restrictions when it comes to crossing state lines over the holiday break, but do when it comes to international travel.

The latest version of the requirements state that unvaccinated students traveling overseas must get tested with a PCR test three to five days after their returns.

If the test is negative, those students will quarantine for seven full days and return to school on day eight. If it's positive, students will coordinate with the school nurse to determine the length of the quarantine.

But students don't have to get tested. They can instead opt for a 10-day quarantine, returning to school the next day.
