Dr. Peter Mercer hit Kevin Murphy, who was wearing earbuds and 'not looking' at a traffic light when Mercer hit him, according to a report.

MAHWAH, NJ — Ramapo College President Dr. Peter Mercer hit a student while driving his car on campus Friday, police said.
The student, Kevin Murphy, 20, sustained non-fatal injuries when Mercer hit him at 3:59 p.m. at the intersection of Magnolia and Ramapo Valley Roads, NorthJersey.com reported.
Murphy admitted in a police report that he was wearing earbuds when crossing the street, did not look at the lights and did not hear anything, the report said, citing a police report. Mercer told authorities the traffic light was green, but the sun glare kept him from seeing Murphy.
