N.Y. Man Found Guilty Of Forcing North Jersey Teens To Perform Sex Act, Make Sex Video

A New York man who used social media to prey on minors was found guilty Tuesday of forcing a North Jersey teenager to perform a sex act on him and having another teenager make and send him a sex video.

Clifford W. Wares, 43, of Warwick, New York, was found guilty on all counts after a six-day trial.

Wares was arrested in November 2011 on charges after one of the victims contacted West Milford police.

From June to October 2011, Wares used the telephone, email, and Facebook to communicate with a 13-year-old Passaic County girl, authorities said. He used a fake Facebook account to present to be another minor who the victim knew.

He later sent the girl pronographic images and engaged in sexual explicit communication with her, later asking her to send him pictures and videos of her nude or engaging in sex. When she didn't send him picture, Wares threatened to send the nude photos and videos to the girl's parents and friends.

Wares met a 14-year-old Passaic County girl online and engaged in sexual explicit communications with her, sent her porngraphic images and told her he was interested in "hanging out" with her.

Wares drove from his home to Passaic County where he picked her up and engaged in sex acts with her in a nearby park, authorities said.

Wares threatened to harm the girl's reputation and property when she refused to meet him a second time.

Wares was arrested after authorities searched for him in a Orange County, New York park. He was found with a roll of duct tape, a pair of handcuffs, a knife, and a list of names of other minors who the two victims knew, authorities said.

Wares faces decades in prison and potentially more than $1 million in fines. Sentencing is scheduled for June 27.
