Online Grocer Expanding to Mahwah This Month

Residents will soon have another way to shop for groceries.

FreshDirect, an online grocer, is expanding to Bergen County on Feb. 14. FreshDirect CEO Rick Braddock will deliver the first Bergen County order to Paramus Mayor Richard LaBarbiera at Borough Hall.

Braddock will make stops in Garfield and East Rutherford as well. All the mayors involved are donating the food to local charities.

FreshDirect won't lack for competition in the area. With an in Mahwah, a Pathmark in Ramsey, Shop Rites in Ramsey and Oakland, and Stop & Shop in Wyckoff, to name a few. Many of these brick-and-mortar businesses have begun implementing online or telephone order and home delivery programs in recent years.

The grocer says customers will save on time and money by choosing the online route for their fresh produce and meat. The company expanded into Union and Essex counties late last year, creating a 600,000-strong customer base.
