Parole Denied For Man Who Killed Bergen Valedictorian: Report

Philip Cise has refused to accept responsibility' for Gabrielle Reuveni's death. Cise has a long history of mental illness.

A man serving a six-year prison sentence for vehicular homicide stemming from the death of a former Paramus High School valedictorian was denied parole because he has shown a 'a lack of remorse' for what happened, The Record reported.

Philip Cise, 52, was under the influence of painkillers in July 2012 when his pickup truck swerved and struck Gabrielle Reuveni as she ran on the shoulder of a Pennsylvania road near her parents' vacation home.

The parole board told Cise in a letter that it made the decision to not grant Cise's request for release, the report said. The board noted that Cise was not complying with "institutional programs," was assessed as a "risk to the community," according to the report.
