Paterson Man Arrested in Mahwah After Striking Man During Adult Soccer Game
Ronald Sanchez allegedly used his forearm and elbow to hit the 21-year-old Mahwah resident in the face, knocking him unconscious.

A Paterson man was arrested in Mahwah Thursday night after he allegedly struck a Mahwah resident during an adult soccer game at Continental Soldiers Field.
Ronald Sanchez, 29, was arrested and charged with third degree aggravated assault after witnesses say he used his forearm and elbow to hit the 21-year-old victim in the face and knock him unconscious, according to Mahwah Chief of Police James N. Batelli.
The victim suffered a laceration on the bridge of his nose, had loose teeth and was spitting out blood when police arrived.

Police also say the victim had been complaining to the referee during the game, saying Sanchez was playing rough and trying to hurt him. Both teams are apart of the Adult Bergen County Open Soccer League.
The victim was taken to the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood.
