Ramapo River 7 Ft. Higher Than Flood Levels

As of the latest National Weather Service gauge, the Ramapo River in Mahwah was measured at 15.17 ft., over seven feet higher than the river’s flood level.

The gauge was reported by the NWS at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

According to the NWS, the river has now reached the authority’s most severe “major stage” flooding level, which occurs once it tops 12 ft. The National Weather Service is forecasting the river will reach higher levels today before beginning to recede. The river floods at 8 ft.

The river has already spilled over the flooding level three times this year – twice in March and once in April, according to NWS gauges.
