Re-Elect John Dinice for Mahwah Board of Education

Strong schools make strong communities and in turn enhances everyone's quality of life.

My name is John Dinice and I’m running for re-election to the Mahwah Board of Education where I currently serve as the 2nd Vice President.

I have lived in Mahwah for 28 years and have three children in the Mahwah school district. I believe my background and knowledge of the district provides the necessary leadership to enhance the educational needs of our students while focusing on fiscal management.

Practicing fiscal responsibility is the primary responsibility of Board of Education trustees, and as a member of the Board of Education Finance Committee, I, along with the committee, worked diligently on a budget that balanced prudent spending of taxpayer money with our goal of maintaining and enhancing a high performing school district. When an additional $81,000 in unanticipated State Aid was allocated to the district, as a result of the final State budget signed by the Governor on July 4, 2017, the committee acted responsibly by giving back the full amount of the additional funds to the taxpayers of Mahwah in the form of tax relief, thereby lowering the overall change in the tax levy from 1.73% to 1.60%.

I’m also a member of the Facilities Committee and have been working in cooperation with the Town Council in building the necessary, and long overdue, cell tower on Board of Education owned property on Airmont Road across from Secor farm. This project will alleviate poor cellular communication service in the surrounding area, away from any residential area that would negatively impact property values, as well as bring additional revenue into the school district making it a win-win for both our community and our district. The Facilities Committee is also overseeing the Science, Technology, Engineering Art, and Math (STEAM) building project that will further enhance our educational offerings.

My experience also include being a member of the Executive/Planning Committee, Chairing the Policy Committee, serving on the Technology Committee, and previously serving on the Community Relations Committee, Liaison to the Bergen County School Boards, and Liaison to Mahwah Access for All.

I believe that strong schools make strong communities and in turn enhance everyone’s quality of life. I respectfully ask for your vote on November 7th so that I may continue to work along with our first rate administration and our outstanding teachers in continuing with our reputation as a high performing school district and among the best in New Jersey.
